Site Reliability Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to enhance the reliability and scalability of our highly distributed platform. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in distributed systems and strong coding skills to define Service Level Objectives (SLOs), lead incident responses, and develop automation and self-healing systems. You will play a critical role in balancing immediate operational stability with strategic engineering initiatives to support our rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

- Participate in on-call rotations and serve as Incident Commander during major incidents by initiating war rooms, coordinating cross-functional teams, and providing clear status updates.
- Instrument code to expose high-cardinality metrics and distributed traces. Collaborate with product owners to define, measure, and uphold SLOs and Error Budgets.
- Develop high-quality, production-ready code in Java, Go, or Python to build internal tools, automation platforms, and self-healing mechanisms that reduce manual intervention.
- Work closely with Product Engineering teams during the design phase to ensure new services incorporate reliability, scalability, and observability patterns such as circuit breakers, rate limiting, backpressure, and fallback strategies from inception.
- Analyze system performance and traffic trends to forecast capacity needs. Conduct load testing and chaos engineering experiments to validate system resilience under failure scenarios.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Site Reliability Engineering or Backend Engineering, with a strong ability to write clean, performant, and well-tested code in Java, Go, Rust, or Python.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems architecture and design patterns, including microservices fundamentals and event-driven architectures.
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or similar cloud providers like AWS or Azure. Proficient in running production workloads on Kubernetes (GKE/EKS) and troubleshooting cluster and infrastructure issues.
- Proven expertise in designing observability strategies using tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, New Relic, Datadog, or SigNoz to enhance system visibility.
- Familiarity with operating and tuning production data stores (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ) in high-throughput environments.
