Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer

A dynamic software development company specializing in creating web and mobile products across diverse industries—including custom business applications, SaaS platforms, and e-commerce solutions—is seeking a Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Engineer. This full-time, onsite role operates Monday through Friday during day shifts (9 AM to 6 PM). The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of software releases by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Review product requirements, user stories, and design specifications early in the development cycle to identify relevant test scenarios.
- Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and checklists for both web and mobile applications.
- Conduct various testing types including functional, regression, smoke, sanity, UI, and cross-browser/cross-device testing for every software release.
- Perform API testing using Postman or similar tools, validating responses, status codes, and data integrity.
- Log, prioritize, and track defects in Jira or equivalent tools, providing clear reproduction steps, screenshots, and detailed comparisons of expected versus actual results.
- Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and designers during sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure quality standards are met.
- Retest resolved defects and confirm that fixes do not introduce new issues prior to release approval.
- Assist in creating and maintaining basic automated test scripts as the team expands its automation capabilities.
- Execute basic SQL queries to validate backend data and support root-cause analysis of issues.
- Propose process improvements aimed at enhancing the overall QA workflow and release quality.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in software quality assurance or testing.
- Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and defect life cycle management.
- Proven expertise in manual testing of web and/or mobile applications.
- Ability to write well-structured, detailed test cases and comprehensive bug reports.
- Practical experience with API testing tools such as Postman.
- Familiarity with bug-tracking and project management tools like Jira, Trello, or ClickUp.
- Basic proficiency in SQL for data validation purposes.
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and strong written and verbal communication in English.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Exposure to test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright is advantageous.
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or possession of an ISTQB certification is considered a plus.
