The Solution Architect role involves providing hands-on architectural leadership, guidance, and mentoring to architecture and engineering teams. This position requires close collaboration across functions to ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions. The ideal candidate will be a thought leader with practical business insight and a strong technical background in scalable web applications, microservices architecture, backend RESTful APIs, and various database technologies including SQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis. The Solution Architect will lead development teams in solving complex problems and resolving technical disagreements by offering well-informed solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Build early prototypes of product components to validate technical design and performance.
- Understand long-term business objectives and recommend technical strategies that introduce innovation and align with those goals.
- Adapt product architecture responsively to evolving customer requirements, market conditions, and emerging technologies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering and other departments to gather requirements and formulate appropriate system architectures, balancing advocacy and compromise to achieve consensus.
- Translate software architecture into detailed design in partnership with development teams.
- Actively participate in the development process when necessary to ensure architectural integrity.
- Work closely with product management, quality assurance, and DevOps teams to align efforts and deliverables.
- Align IT initiatives with the strategic direction of the enterprise.
- Implement architectural standards, reference models, and technology selection processes.
- Analyze gaps in current technology architecture and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Define and communicate technology architecture principles to guide development and operational teams.
- Research and evaluate current and emerging technology services, industry standards, and architectural viewpoints to address stakeholder concerns.
- Select and manage tools and repositories for architecture documentation and artifact management.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in software development, application design, and delivery of medium to large-scale projects.
- At least 5 years of experience in an architect role within large-scale software development environments.
- Proficiency in scalable software design and architecture principles.
- Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
- Experience designing solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platforms, with working knowledge of Microsoft Azure.
- Familiarity with version control systems and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Solid understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker, along with DevOps fundamentals.
- Deep knowledge of relational database design, particularly SQL Server, and good understanding of NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
- Demonstrated experience designing architectures utilizing Redis, Elasticsearch, and Amazon Simple Queue Service (SQS).
