Trade Officer

This position demands a strong command of trade compliance requirements, supply chain coordination, and effective engagement with various stakeholders involved in the import and export processes. The Trade Officer leads a team of three professionals, ensuring seamless execution of trade-related activities from documentation to customs clearance, while continuously analyzing trade policies to maintain adherence and optimize trade effectiveness. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of five years of relevant experience in trade operations or compliance, backed by advanced education such as a Master's degree in finance, business, economics, or a closely related field. Expertise in customs documentation management, HS code classification, and use of trade compliance software such as SAP Global Trade Services (GTS) is essential. Additionally, the role involves working closely with customs authorities, maintaining thorough knowledge of customs clearance procedures, and supporting the team in implementing trade policies that align with legislative requirements and business objectives.
Responsibilities

Manage and oversee all aspects of international trade compliance including import and export activities to ensure adherence to relevant regulations and company standards.
Lead, mentor, and coordinate a team of three trade professionals to deliver high-quality trade operations and compliance services.
Develop and maintain comprehensive customs documentation processes ensuring accuracy and timely submission to customs authorities for clearance.
Conduct trade policy analysis to interpret and implement updates in international trade regulations and company compliance strategies.
Perform HS code classification to correctly categorize goods for customs purposes and optimize tariff applications.
Utilize trade compliance software, particularly SAP Global Trade Services (GTS), to manage and automate trade compliance workflows, ensuring system accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate with supply chain management to align trade operations with logistics and transportation processes, facilitating efficient movement of goods across borders.
Engage with internal and external stakeholders including government agencies, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and suppliers to ensure seamless trade transactions.
Monitor trade compliance risks and formulate mitigation strategies to minimize legal and financial exposure for the company.
Prepare and present regular reports on trade operations performance, compliance status, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
Support professional development and certification efforts within the team related to trade compliance and operations.
Ensure customs documentation compliance with both local and international standards to prevent delays and penalties.
Implement best practices in customs compliance management and provide guidance on complex customs clearance procedures.
