The Specialist – Technical Application Architect is a pivotal role responsible for designing, developing, deploying, integrating, and maintaining enterprise business applications from inception to production. This hands-on full-stack developer also acts as the technology architect for the platform, working across various front-end frameworks such as Angular or React, and back-end technologies including .NET Core (C#), Node.js, and Python. The role involves managing MySQL databases, document management systems, workflow automation, and incorporating AI-enabled technologies. The architect ensures that solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable, and designed for long-term in-house ownership, collaborating closely with senior IT leadership and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in requirements gathering, solution architecture, and creation of technical documentation, including workflow mapping and stakeholder analysis.
- Define and take ownership of end-to-end application architecture, selecting appropriate technologies, design patterns, and integration strategies across front-end, back-end, database, and infrastructure layers.
- Develop responsive front-end modules using Angular or React, customized for various user roles.
- Build back-end services and RESTful APIs with .NET Core (C#), Node.js, or Python, adhering to clean and layered architecture principles.
- Design and optimize MySQL database schemas to support transactional processing, audit trails, and reporting needs.
- Integrate Document Management System features such as version control, metadata tagging, secure storage, and retention policies.
- Create multi-stage workflow and approval engines to manage business processes, SLA tracking, and escalation mechanisms.
- Containerize application components using Docker and implement CI/CD pipelines for automated building, testing, and deployment.
- Design and integrate AI-powered capabilities including large language models (LLMs), AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), intelligent document processing, semantic search, and conversational assistants.
- Develop AI-enabled APIs and services using Python to automate workflows and enhance intelligence.
- Implement secure integrations with internal and external systems (e.g., ERP, identity providers) using REST/SOAP APIs and robust authentication methods.
- Manage authentication and authorization frameworks such as JWT, OAuth2/OpenID Connect, Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory.
- Implement background job processing for notifications, SLA timers, and asynchronous tasks.
- Ensure secure coding practices aligned with OWASP guidelines, data protection, and regulatory compliance.
- Lead architecture and design reviews, making critical technical decisions on frameworks, state management, workflow engines, and integration patterns.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams including Engineers, Product Managers, Operations, and Business Partners to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and progress tracking materials.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive hands-on full-stack development experience with Angular or React for front-end and .NET Core/C#, Node.js, or Python for back-end development.
- Proven expertise in architecting enterprise-grade applications using clean/layered architecture, design patterns, and microservices concepts.
- Strong MySQL database design skills, including schema optimization, indexing, and production deployment.
- Experience building or integrating Document Management Systems with versioning, metadata management, access control, and retention policies.
- Skilled in designing multi-actor, multi-stage workflow or approval engines (BPM-style or custom-built).
- Hands-on experience with Docker containerization and CI/CD pipelines such as GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
- Practical experience integrating LLMs and AI services into enterprise applications.
- Proficiency in Python for AI integration, automation, and AI-powered application development.
- Experience with system integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, message queues, and secure API authentication methods including OAuth and mutual TLS.
- Knowledge of authentication and authorization frameworks such as Microsoft Entra ID/Active Directory, JWT, and role-based access control.
- Strong analytical and architectural skills with the ability to evaluate technology trade-offs and design scalable, maintainable systems.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mentor junior developers and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Customer-focused mindset emphasizing quality, security, and user experience.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
- Understanding of IT governance frameworks such as ITIL and best practices for service delivery and operational support.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Bachelor’s degree (16 years of education) in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Innovation, Technology Management, or related fields from a reputable university recognized by HEC.
- Professional certifications in solution/software architecture, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), DevOps, or containerization (Docker) are advantageous.
