The Accounting and Tax Manager will support the Partners in various functions throughout the practice. The main function will be to help manage the accounting and tax staff in preparing, reviewing and finalizing accounting and taxation engagements for the clients of the firm. The Accountant will also take a lead role in:
- Preparation of compilation engagement files to be submitted to the Partners for review;
- Preparation of corporate and personal tax returns;
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships;
- Tax consulting to firm clients including tax planning and analysis;
- HST return preparation and filing along with GST/HST audit support;
- Maintain client files to ensure accurate and timely completion of returns and schedules;
- Provide support and training to team members in related tasks;
- Create efficiency within firm to streamline processes and improve quality of engagement files;
- Ad-hoc projects as required by the partners;
- Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, ideally from a small to mid-sized accounting firm.
In addition the Accounting and Tax Manager is expected to exhibit the following:
- Strong time-management abilities and self-motivation·
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills allowing effective interaction with staff and clients;
- Strong working knowledge with CaseWare, Profile/TaxPrep, MS Office and QuickBooks;
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet various Partner and client deadlines;
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment;
- Excellent client service skills, with the ability to understand the clients' businesses;
