The Gender and protection officer is responsible for ensuring that the flood response project is implemented in a way that is gender-sensitive and protective of women, girls, boys, and other vulnerable groups. The officer will work with the project team to develop and implement gender-responsive programming and to identify and respond to protection risks.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct gender analysis of the project area and identify gender-specific needs and risks.
  •  Develop and implement gender-responsive programming, such as training on gender equality and women's rights, and cash transfers to women-headed households.
  • Provide technical support to the project team on gender and protection issues.
  •  Monitor and evaluate the project's progress on gender and protection.
  •   liaising with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders on gender and protection issues.
  • To provide overall value addition for transparency, efficient and effective implementation of humanitarian assistance actions across the district
  • Plan and conduct monitoring visits to projects and establish effective feedback mechanisms, complaint recording and handling mechanisms, and grievances settling mechanisms during the execution of project activities
  • To provide technical input to project teams for developing clear, realistic and achievable protection related work plans
  • Any other assignment as and when required.

Other:

  • Adhere to SPO policies and promote participatory culture and demonstrate SPO’s values
  • Participate in professional development training as identified and approved by SPO
  • Carry out any other activities as assigned by the supervisor.
