System Engineer

As part of this innovative environment, the role focuses on leading and managing system patching across various operating systems within the TMB infrastructure, including Windows, Linux, and AIX, specifically supporting branch and branchless banking operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with patching tools such as K-patch/Oracle K-splice, Ivanti Patch Management, and Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support highly available enterprise IT infrastructure, including Windows servers, Linux systems, and related infrastructure services.
- Provide operational support for backup infrastructure, performing daily operations using Veeam and HP Data Protector.
- Monitor and manage backup jobs, troubleshoot failures, execute restores, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Analyze and report on backup performance daily, weekly, and monthly, including capacity and utilization trends.
- Configure and maintain backups for physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement backup solutions aligned with system requirements for both new and existing systems.
- Ensure reliable and secure backup and recovery processes in compliance with TMB policies and procedures.
- Recommend system expansions to accommodate data growth and maintain operational documentation for data protection services.
- Manage HP StoreOnce Backup Appliance, EMC Data-Domain, and Tape Libraries, supporting backup, recovery, and archiving in a complex, distributed environment.
- Verify environment and software compatibility for Veeam solutions, integrating them into the existing infrastructure.
- Administer Windows Servers, Linux, and IBM AIX operating systems with expertise in patch management tools such as Ivanti Patch Management, Microsoft SCCM/WSUS, Oracle K-splice, and RedHat Satellite.
- Utilize Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policies, and PowerShell for administrative tasks.
- Coordinate patch scheduling and system updates with stakeholders, leading application packaging, software distribution, OS deployment, and patch management activities.
- Follow change management processes, including obtaining CAB approvals and scheduling downtime when necessary, to ensure continuous vulnerability patching and remediation across multi-site networks.
- Maintain detailed patch management reports and records to support internal/external audits, information security, IT governance, and SLA compliance.
- Create, customize, deploy, and automate software packages using Ivanti and SCCM, including distribution of monthly security patches.
- Evaluate, validate, and document application packages, creating custom test environments to provide proof of concept prior to production deployment.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in system administration, enterprise backups, and patch management.

Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V, along with public and private cloud environments.
- Experience managing multiple operating systems including Windows, Linux, and AIX.
- Proficiency with Veeam Enterprise Backups, Ivanti Patch Management, Microsoft SCCM, and WSUS.
- Understanding of system security and hardening practices.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with servers, systems storage, and backup technologies.
