Systems Administrator – AIX / Linux

We are seeking a skilled Systems Administrator with expertise in AIX and Linux operating systems to join our team. The role involves managing and supporting enterprise-level environments, including SAN storage systems, to ensure optimal performance, security compliance, and operational stability. The successful candidate will be responsible for system administration, patch management, performance tuning, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain seamless IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer and maintain AIX and Linux servers across production, development, and testing environments, ensuring high availability and compliance with IT policies.
- Configure, monitor, and optimize operating systems and infrastructure components, including enterprise SAN storage systems such as Huawei, NetApp, and IBM.
- Perform OS management tasks including installation, patching, lifecycle maintenance, upgrades, migrations, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Manage storage provisioning, decommissioning, and performance tuning within SAN environments, adhering to best practices for storage area networks, zoning, and provisioning.
- Automate routine tasks using Shell and Bash scripting to improve operational efficiency.
- Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis for technical issues, and implement timely resolutions.
- Collaborate closely with application, database, and network teams to ensure integrated and smooth IT operations.
- Handle vendor escalations, support contracts, and ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
- Conduct regular audits and maintain compliance with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) best practices.
- Provide 24/7 support and incident management to minimize downtime and maintain service continuity.
- Contribute to continuous operational improvements through research, technical recommendations, and documentation.
- Participate in system architecture design focusing on security, scalability, and disaster recovery.
- Perform capacity planning, health checks, patching, and proactive monitoring to maintain system integrity.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of virtualization concepts and enterprise server hardware.
- Prepare clear documentation and presentations utilizing Microsoft Office tools to support knowledge sharing and reporting.

Required Qualifications

- MSc in Computer Science or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive hands-on experience (4+ years) with IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and various Linux distributions including CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian.
- Expert knowledge in AIX Logical Volume Manager (LVM), LPAR profile creation and configuration, PowerVM administration, AIX OS installation and configuration, and Hardware Management Console (HMC) administration.
- Proven skills in system monitoring tools and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience working within managed services environments, supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

- Certifications in AIX and Linux are highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of virtualization technologies and enterprise server and storage hardware.
- In-depth knowledge of storage area network (SAN) principles, including storage provisioning, zoning, and best practices.
- Excellent analytical abilities and a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in documentation and presentation using Microsoft Office suite.
