We are seeking a hands-on Systems Engineer with solid experience in managing Linux environments and virtual infrastructure using VMware. Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux systems, including RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu distributions.
- Monitor system health and resolve issues related to operating systems, virtualization, and basic networking.
- Apply updates, security patches, and conduct scheduled maintenance to ensure system stability.
- Maintain and regularly test system backups and recovery procedures to guarantee data integrity.
- Implement security best practices across Linux servers and virtual infrastructure.
- Automate routine operational tasks using Bash scripting and command-line interface tools.
- Document procedures, configurations, and system standards to support knowledge sharing and compliance.
- Collaborate with IT teams on performance tuning, capacity planning, and technical support activities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with VMware vSphere, including ESXi and vCenter management.
- Strong Linux system administration skills across multiple distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Familiarity with storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, as well as backup solutions like Veeam.
- Proficiency in shell scripting, particularly Bash, for task automation.
- Basic understanding of virtualization networking concepts and high availability configurations.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn cloud platforms and actively contribute to migration or cloud adoption projects.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Exposure to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) platforms like OpenStack or CloudStack is highly desirable.
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible or scripting languages like Python.
