Job SUMMARY:
We are non-profit organization (NGO) in need of experienced translators and interpreters to serve our humanitarian clients.
We are hiring an English to Dari, Dari to English interpreter/translator to be based on a 1 year fixed term contract in Qatar for our client. We will help in attaining work visas for the successful candidates. The role will primarily help in assisting resettlement of Afghan refugees residing in Qatar. Successful candidates will help the host organization staff in Qatar to interact and communicate with Afghan refugees in the resettling process.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Provide direct interpartion and translation services for refugees/applicants
- Translate project related documents as required, including such items as ID cards, educational certificates, letters of employment, etc.
- Provide direct bilateral and multilateral interpretation services.
- Assist in secondary, related tasks, such as escorting the applicant(s) to and from interviews, conducting interpretation during roll-call, etc.
- Facilitate the two-way communication by maintaining professionalism, diligence, impartiality, objectivity, and being cooperative and courteous to organization staff members and refugees.
- Adhere to guidelines on interpretation and any trainings related to interpreting for a diverse range of applicants.
- Abide by set codes of conduct.
- Undertake other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent command of Dari and English, both oral and written;
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and diplomacy skills; ability to use tact.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team in an international and multicultural environment.
- Willing to relocate to Qatar for 1 year.
- 1-year translation/interpretation experience preferred.
- Must hold a valid Pakistani CNIC/Passport.
