The Safety Management Engineer also leads emergency response planning, organizes safety training and drills, and ensures the maintenance of safety records and permits. This role involves close coordination with government inspectors, auditors, and internal teams to uphold a robust safety culture throughout the factory. By driving initiatives such as 5S and continuous improvement, the engineer actively contributes to risk reduction, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance. The engineer must possess excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, and be adept at utilizing tools like Microsoft Office for documentation and presentation purposes. Success in this role is measured by maintaining zero major safety violations, completing inspections and audits on schedule, and promptly addressing corrective actions.
Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the factory's Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (EHS) Management System in alignment with national laws and international standards.
  • Prepare and regularly update safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and emergency response plans to ensure workplace safety and compliance.
  • Conduct comprehensive workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, hazard identifications, and implement corrective and preventive measures.
  • Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and conditions, performing root cause analysis and applying findings to prevent recurrence.
  • Organize and manage fire drills, emergency evacuation exercises, and safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety among employees.
  • Maintain all statutory safety records, permits, licenses, and other essential compliance documentation accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate government inspections, customer audits, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 audits, and internal EHS audits, ensuring readiness and effective response.
  • Monitor and verify the implementation of corrective actions resulting from audits and inspections to achieve compliance objectives.
  • Manage the operational readiness and maintenance of fire protection systems, emergency equipment, CCTV safety systems, and related safety infrastructure.
  • Prepare and oversee the annual safety budget, monitoring safety-related expenditures for fiscal responsibility.
  • Ensure that contractors, visitors, and all personnel comply with factory safety requirements and protocols at all times.
  • Conduct safety induction training for new employees and regular refresher training for all staff to sustain safety awareness and competence.
  • Oversee environmental compliance efforts including waste management, chemical handling, and hazardous material storage according to regulatory guidelines.
  • Compile and present monthly safety reports, key performance indicator (KPI) reports, and management presentations to communicate safety performance.
  • Promote continuous improvement and embed 5S principles within the safety culture to enhance operational efficiency and hazard control.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations, advances in safety management systems, and best practices.
