Team Leader / Senior Design Engineer (Water & Sewerage)

A leading organization is seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership and coordination for water and sewerage system projects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project planning, design review, and management, particularly within large-scale infrastructure projects. This role involves working closely with multidisciplinary teams to review and update engineering designs, ensuring compliance with international standards and client requirements. The position offers a hybrid remote working arrangement based in Karachi.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide overall technical leadership and coordinate design review and update activities for the Client’s sub-projects.
- Lead the review of detailed engineering designs, hydraulic studies, simulations, calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs, and cost estimates prepared by previous consultants.
- Collaborate with KWSSIP, KW&SC, PIU teams, and technical specialists to gather and assess all relevant surveys, investigations, reports, designs, and project data.
- Assess existing designs to identify gaps, deficiencies, inconsistencies, and additional information needed for successful project implementation.
- Lead multidisciplinary reviews covering water supply, sewerage, hydraulic, structural, mechanical, and electrical designs, ensuring proper coordination of technical interfaces.
- Guide the updating of designs to comply with applicable codes, standards, World Bank requirements, and project-specific criteria.
- Ensure design modifications are accurately incorporated into tender drawings, construction drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documents.
- Oversee the preparation and quality assurance of detailed construction drawings, verifying that they include sufficient details, dimensions, and specifications.
- Coordinate updates to cost estimates, economic and financial analyses, O&M requirements, and related project documentation following design changes.
- Lead efforts to identify and resolve utility conflicts, right-of-way requirements, NOCs, approvals, and permissions linked to updated designs.
- Work with the Environmental & Social (E&S) team to ensure design changes are reflected in ESIA, ESMP, RAP, and other safeguard instruments.
- Review and provide technical direction for tender documents, REOI/RFB, specifications, BOQs, cost estimates, and bidding drawings.
- Ensure consistency and technical integration across all discipline-specific design outputs and tender documentation.
- Prepare and finalize the Design Review Report, documenting shortcomings, missing elements, recommended modifications, and measures for a sound design.
- Approve major design deliverables prior to submission to the Client on behalf of the Consultant.
- Facilitate technical discussions with the Client, previous design consultants, authorities, and stakeholders to resolve design-related issues.
- Monitor the design schedule and deliverables from all specialists to ensure timely submission.
- Provide technical input during procurement and tender preparation, clarifying design-related issues and ensuring bidding documents reflect the finalized design.
- Verify that finalized construction drawings are signed, stamped, and conform to design requirements before Client submission.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- Minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including at least two assignments in similar roles involving project planning, management, and design of water and sewerage systems.
- At least 5 years of experience as a Team Leader on relevant projects.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:

- Competitive monthly salary ranging from Rs 400,000 to Rs 450,000.
