Technical 3D Printing Specialist

BrickCAD is seeking a skilled Technical 3D Printing Specialist with over three years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing. This full-time, on-site role based at NSTP, NUST, Islamabad, involves operating and maintaining a variety of 3D printers, troubleshooting print issues, optimizing print quality, and providing technical support and consultation to customers. The ideal candidate will be proficient with multiple 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SLA, MSLA, and resin printing, and comfortable working with slicing software and different materials. This position also supports sales activities and collaborates closely with the design team to ensure models are optimized for printing.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate, calibrate, and maintain various 3D printers across different technologies such as FDM, SLA, MSLA, and resin.
- Prepare and optimize 3D models for printing to ensure successful outcomes.
- Configure slicing software and adjust print parameters including layer height, infill, wall thickness, supports, orientation, temperature, and speed.
- Troubleshoot common print failures such as warping, stringing, layer shifting, adhesion problems, and extrusion issues.
- Perform routine printer maintenance including calibration, cleaning, and component replacement.
- Select appropriate printing materials based on application needs and performance criteria.
- Inspect printed parts for quality, accuracy, and defects, and carry out basic post-processing and finishing.
- Provide technical advice to customers regarding printing technologies, materials, resolution, strength, and finishing options.
- Manage customer inquiries, technical discussions, quotations, and follow-ups.
- Support product demonstrations and assist the sales team in technical aspects.
- Collaborate with the CAD/design team to modify or optimize models when necessary.
- Maintain detailed records of print jobs, materials used, machine usage, and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in 3D printing, additive manufacturing, or a related technical field.
- Strong expertise in FDM 3D printing technology.
- Experience with SLA, MSLA, and resin-based printing processes.
- Familiarity with operating multiple makes and models of 3D printers.
- Good knowledge of filaments, resins, and specialty materials used in additive manufacturing.
- Proficient in using slicing software and optimizing print parameters.
- Solid understanding of printer calibration, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Knowledge of critical print parameters such as layer height, infill, wall thickness, supports, orientation, temperature, and speed.
- Basic understanding of 3D CAD and common file formats including STL, OBJ, and 3MF.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills combined with clear communication abilities.
- Ability to explain technical solutions effectively to customers.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

Experience and skills in FDM, SLA, MSLA, resin printing, printer calibration, slicing, CAD/3D modeling, print failure analysis, post-processing, rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing, technical sales, and customer support are highly desirable.
