Technical Documentation and Information Architect Intern

Software Finder is seeking a motivated Technical Documentation and Information Architect Intern to join our UX, Product, and Engineering teams. This internship offers a hands-on learning experience for individuals who enjoy simplifying complex ideas, organizing content, and crafting clear, user-focused copy. The intern will collaborate closely with senior team members to develop skills in information architecture, UX writing, and technical documentation while contributing to real product initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in designing and maintaining information architecture components such as site maps, taxonomies, navigation structures, and content hierarchies under the guidance of senior team members.
- Collaborate with UX, Product, and Engineering teams to translate business and user requirements into clear, structured content.
- Support the creation of product copy including UI labels, microcopy, onboarding flows, tooltips, and error messages.
- Help maintain consistency in voice, tone, and terminology across the product ecosystem by adhering to established content governance standards.
- Contribute to documentation efforts including user guides, release notes, feature documentation, and help center articles.
- Simplify technical concepts into easily understandable content for both internal and external audiences.
- Participate in content audits to identify gaps, inconsistencies, or opportunities to improve clarity and usability.
- Support user research activities, usability inspections, and usability testing sessions as needed.
- Assist in drafting and refining UX copy for interfaces such as labels, buttons, error messages, onboarding sequences, and empty states.

Required Qualifications

- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Design, Journalism, or a related field.
- Some exposure to UX writing, content strategy, technical documentation, or information architecture through coursework, personal projects, or prior internships.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail.
- Genuine interest in UX principles, content design, and understanding how structure impacts user experience.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment and accept constructive feedback.
- Eagerness to learn content modeling, taxonomy design, and governance practices on the job.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- Familiarity with design and collaboration tools such as Figma or FigJam is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of documentation tools like MS Office, Docusaurus, or GitHub is advantageous.
