Technical Expert- Fabrics

Our client, a leading name in textile manufacturing and fabric development based in Lahore, Pakistan, is seeking a highly skilled Technical Expert – Fabric to oversee and enhance fabric development, quality, and technical operations within knitted fabric production. This full-time, onsite role demands a professional with extensive experience managing the entire fabric lifecycle—from yarn selection and knitting to dyeing and finishing—ensuring that all fabrics meet the stringent quality, testing, and performance standards required by top global sportswear and premium apparel brands. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical knowledge from prominent fabric mills and will play a pivotal role in advancing internal capabilities, boosting quality metrics, and fostering innovation throughout fabric manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead fabric development activities, managing the process from yarn selection through to finished fabric production, while optimizing fabric specifications to satisfy customer expectations, performance criteria, and cost targets.
- Evaluate yarn performance and suitability for various fabric constructions and end uses, supporting the creation of innovative fabric solutions aligned with market demands.
- Provide technical leadership across knitted fabric operations, including fleece, terry, jersey, pique, interlock, and spacer fabrics, focusing on optimizing knitting efficiency, fabric quality, and troubleshooting production issues.
- Drive the development and production of synthetic and performance fabrics, such as football jersey and tricot fabrics, ensuring consistent achievement of moisture management, stretch, durability, and finishing standards.
- Oversee dyeing and finishing processes to meet quality benchmarks, improve first-time-right outcomes for color accuracy and shade matching, reduce re-dyeing and rework, and identify opportunities for process and resource optimization.
- Ensure fabric performance complies with buyer requirements and technical specifications, monitoring key quality parameters including pilling, strength, color fastness, washing performance, rubbing fastness, shrinkage, and fabric hand feel.
- Enforce compliance with global apparel brands’ testing and chemical safety standards, supporting quality investigations and root-cause analyses.
- Establish and maintain technical standards and operating procedures across yarn, knitting, dyeing, and finishing operations.
- Mentor and train technical teams to build internal expertise and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
- Collaborate effectively with customer technical teams and internal stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Technology, Textile Chemistry, or a related field.
- Extensive senior-level technical experience in fabric manufacturing environments.
- Strong expertise in yarn selection, knitting, dyeing and finishing, fabric development, and textile testing.
- Hands-on experience with cotton and cotton blend knits, including fleece, terry, jersey, pique, interlock, and spacer fabrics.
- Proven track record in developing synthetic and performance fabrics, especially football jersey and tricot fabrics.
- Solid understanding of global brand testing standards and compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead practical, factory-floor problem-solving for technical and manufacturing challenges.
- Excellent coaching, mentoring, and stakeholder management skills.
