Technical Lead – GenAI & Cloud Engineering

Located in Stockholm, Sweden, this full-time hybrid role (on-site three days per week) seeks an experienced Technical Lead specializing in Generative AI and Cloud Engineering. The successful candidate will lead the design, architecture, and delivery of cloud-native, AI-powered solutions. This position requires 5 to 10 years of experience and fluency in Swedish (mandatory), with applications open to all nationalities. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on skills in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Python, FastAPI, OpenAI API integration, and Generative AI technologies, combined with proven leadership in managing engineering teams and making strategic technical decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Architecture: Own the end-to-end technical architecture and solution design for complex projects. Lead and mentor engineering teams, providing technical guidance and driving decision-making on technology selection and implementation. Conduct architecture and code reviews, perform technical assessments, and collaborate closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with business goals.

Cloud Engineering (GCP & BigQuery): Design and develop cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform. Build and optimize BigQuery solutions for analytics and data processing workloads. Integrate cloud services with applications, APIs, and data platforms while implementing best practices in cloud security, monitoring, access management, and deployment. Focus on optimizing cloud performance, scalability, and resource utilization.

Python & API Development: Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python. Build and support RESTful APIs with FastAPI. Integrate backend services with databases, cloud platforms, external systems, and AI models. Implement authentication, logging, testing, monitoring, and thorough API documentation. Troubleshoot and optimize application performance to ensure reliability.

Generative AI & OpenAI Integration: Design and implement AI-powered applications and generative AI solutions. Integrate OpenAI APIs and other large language models into enterprise applications. Develop AI-driven workflows and automation capabilities, evaluating and applying appropriate AI integration patterns. Ensure AI solutions meet stringent security, scalability, reliability, and performance standards.

Software Delivery & Engineering Excellence: Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from design through production support. Support version control, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), testing, deployment, and release management. Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to maintain project momentum and quality.

Required Qualifications

- Proficiency in Swedish (spoken and written) is mandatory.
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and BigQuery.
- Strong Python development skills with practical experience in backend application development.
- Proven expertise in developing REST APIs using FastAPI.
- Experience integrating OpenAI APIs and designing generative AI solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead development teams and make strategic technical decisions.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Familiarity with AI agents, workflow automation, and cloud security including Identity and Access Management (IAM).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and automated testing frameworks.
- Background in data analytics, data platform integrations, monitoring, observability tools, and database design/optimization.
- Experience conducting code reviews and enforcing engineering best practices.
- Ability to define technical roadmaps and contribute to long-term strategic planning.
- Relevant certifications in GCP and AI/Generative AI are advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience working in hybrid and distributed team environments.
