We are seeking a skilled Tooling Engineer to join our team in Lahore on a night shift schedule. This onsite position involves designing, developing, and improving progressive stamping dies, welding and fabrication fixtures, assembly jigs, checking fixtures, and related production tooling primarily for automotive and heavy manufacturing applications. The role demands strong 3D CAD proficiency, a solid understanding of tooling and manufacturing processes, GD&T expertise, and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication in English is essential to collaborate with cross-functional teams and support our North American automotive clients.

Key Responsibilities

Stamping Tooling - Automotive:
Develop progressive stamping strip layouts for sheet-metal automotive components, considering part geometry, forming requirements, material flow, and production feasibility. Plan station sequencing, nesting, material utilization, carrier strips, scrap webs, pilot positioning, and progression through cutting and forming operations. Perform engineering calculations such as tonnage, cutting and forming forces, center of pressure, and die balance. Design punches, die blocks, strippers, pads, guides, pilots, retainers, and other progressive die components. Support die tryout and troubleshooting activities including spring-back correction, clearance adjustments, dimensional improvements, and resolving production tooling issues.

Welding & Assembly Tooling - Automotive:
Design spot and MIG welding fixtures, assembly jigs, checking fixtures, and gauges for stamped automotive components and assemblies. Develop robust locating schemes using component datums, RPS principles, net pads, locating pins, and pin-and-slot arrangements. Design mechanical and pneumatic locating and clamping systems considering part loading/unloading, weld gun access, weld sequence, operator ergonomics, and maintainability. Apply GD&T and dimensional requirements to ensure repeatable part location, orientation, and assembly accuracy. Support fixture tryout, buy-off, first-article inspection, dimensional validation, and necessary design modifications.

Fabrication & Machining Tooling - Heavy Machinery:
Design weld fixtures, assembly jigs, and machining fixtures for large fabricated structures such as frames, booms, buckets, tanks, and agricultural implements. Develop rigid tooling solutions for large weldments while accounting for welding distortion, pre-camber, weld sequence, thermal effects, and dimensional stability. Incorporate positioners, crane access, lifting and handling requirements, operator access, and safe loading/unloading into tooling designs. Develop practical, modular, and adjustable tooling suited for high-mix, low-volume fabrication environments.

Tooling Design & Documentation:
Create complete 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings for dies, fixtures, jigs, gauges, and related tooling components. Apply GD&T, fits, tolerances, and basic tolerance stack-up principles to achieve dimensional accuracy and repeatability. Select appropriate standard tooling components, locating devices, clamps, cylinders, fasteners, and commercially available parts as needed. Maintain accurate tooling documentation and update revisions based on tryout, manufacturing, quality, and production feedback.

Tooling Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
Review existing tooling to identify opportunities for improving cycle time, ergonomics, accessibility, reliability, maintainability, quality, and cost. Troubleshoot tooling-related production and dimensional issues, determine root causes, and develop practical corrective actions. Support tooling standardization, cost-reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Project Support:
Collaborate closely with manufacturing, production, quality, maintenance, machining, welding, tool rooms, and engineering teams throughout tooling design, tryout, and implementation. Communicate tooling concepts, technical requirements, design changes, and project status clearly to internal and external stakeholders. Manage multiple tooling projects and design revisions simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.

Required Qualifications

Education: Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) in Mechanical or Tool & Die Making from a recognized board; or B.Tech, BS, BE, or BSc in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience: 2-4 years of relevant experience in tooling design, fixture design, die design, fabrication, automotive manufacturing, or heavy machinery.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, or Fusion 360. Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, fits, tolerances, and tolerance stack-up. Familiarity with progressive stamping, sheet-metal forming, welding, machining, and fabrication processes. Practical understanding of fixture locating and clamping principles, RPS/datums, progressive die components, and tooling fundamentals. Experience with pneumatic clamping systems, standard tooling components, and tooling tryout or buy-off activities is advantageous. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and project management skills are essential.

Working hours are from 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM (Monday to Friday) to support North American clients. The position offers a market-competitive salary with a performance-based year-end bonus. The work location is DHA Phase 8, Lahore, and the role requires onsite presence.
