Truck Dispatch Manager

We are looking for an experienced Truck Dispatch Manager to lead and oversee our dispatch team, ensuring efficient and profitable fleet operations. In this role, you will be responsible for managing daily dispatch activities, optimizing driver routing, and maintaining compliance with DOT regulations. Your leadership will be key in driving high standards for driver retention and customer satisfaction while maximizing operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Oversee the dispatch team by managing schedules, providing training, and setting key performance indicators such as on-time delivery rates, driver retention, and rate-per-mile targets.

Fleet Optimization: Direct load assignments and route planning using Transportation Management Systems (TMS) and GPS technology to maximize revenue and minimize deadhead miles.

Driver Management: Serve as the primary escalation point for drivers, addressing operational challenges, route changes, and schedule delays promptly and effectively.

Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to FMCSA regulations, Hours of Service (HOS) requirements, and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance across the entire fleet.

Reporting: Monitor and report on critical metrics including cost-per-mile, fleet utilization, fuel efficiency, and weekly gross revenue to support data-driven decision-making.

Required Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 3 years in trucking dispatch, with at least 1 to 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.

Software Proficiency: Practical experience with industry-standard load boards and dispatch software such as DAT, Truck Stop, and 123 Load Board.

Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of DOT/FMCSA regulations, HOS logs, and various types of trucking equipment.

Skills: Strong leadership abilities combined with excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills suited for a fast-paced environment.
