UN Women Pakistan Country Office in Islamabad is seeking an intern to provide vital technical and administrative support across its diverse portfolio of gender equality and women’s empowerment programmes. This internship offers practical exposure to programme implementation within the United Nations system, supporting research, documentation, coordination, monitoring, communications, and other activities aligned with UN Women’s priorities in Pakistan. The role is designed to enhance understanding of gender equality initiatives while contributing to the effective delivery of ongoing projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day programme support to assigned teams across various UN Women projects and thematic areas.
- Compile, organize, and maintain programme-related information, records, trackers, presentations, and other working documents.
- Conduct desk research and analysis on topics such as gender equality, women’s empowerment, leadership, economic empowerment, ending violence against women, governance, peace, and security.
- Assist in preparing background notes, briefs, talking points, meeting materials, presentations, minutes, and summaries for programme teams.
- Support monitoring and documentation of programme activities, including data collection and organization of outputs, results, and evidence.
- Coordinate and follow up on meetings, consultations, workshops, trainings, events, and other programme activities, including preparation of agendas, attendance records, and action points.
- Assist in the preparation, formatting, and quality review of programme documents and reports in accordance with UN Women standards.
- Compile inputs from programme teams and partners for periodic reporting, programme updates, donor reports, and management information.
- Support the development and organization of communication and visibility materials such as success stories, human-interest stories, and event summaries.
- Maintain electronic programme files, ensuring systematic organization and accessibility.
- Facilitate coordination and information exchange with internal teams, implementing partners, and stakeholders under supervision.
- Undertake other programme-related tasks that contribute to the effective implementation of UN Women activities.

Required Qualifications

- University studies in gender studies, international development, public policy, social sciences, political science, economics, public administration, communications, business administration, development studies, international relations, or a related field.
- Candidates must meet one of the following: be enrolled in a graduate programme; be in the final academic year of a bachelor’s degree; have graduated within the last two years; or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship programme as part of degree requirements.
- Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another UN language is an advantage.
- Strong research, analytical, and information-gathering skills.
- Good written and oral communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to organize information and maintain accurate records.
- Capacity to work collaboratively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks within deadlines.
- Interest in gender equality, women’s rights, and development-related areas.
