Unitech International is seeking a skilled Product Development Engineer with a solid background in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline. This role focuses on supporting the design and development of new products, primarily in stainless-steel manufacturing, HVACR, refrigeration, or industrial equipment sectors. The ideal candidate brings practical experience in prototyping, testing, and fabrication, with a strong understanding of materials selection and manufacturing processes. This position demands an individual who carefully studies customer requirements, technical specifications, and prepares thorough documentation including Bills of Materials, feasibility studies, and cost analysis to facilitate management decisions.
The Product Development Engineer works independently, collaborating closely with procurement and production teams to convert innovative ideas into workable and manufacturable technical solutions. This role requires a detail-oriented mindset with the ability to perform supplier comparisons and support production by ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability. The engineer contributes to the entire product development lifecycle by integrating design for manufacturing principles and by applying expertise in sheet metal fabrication, piping, tanks, refrigeration components, and related bought-out items. Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requirements and technical specifications to inform product design and development.
- Develop and refine product prototypes through rigorous testing and validation.
- Prepare detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs), feasibility studies, basic costing sheets, and supplier comparisons for management review.
- Support and coordinate with procurement and production teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to optimize product designs for efficient fabrication and assembly.
- Select appropriate materials based on analysis to ensure product reliability and cost-effectiveness.
- Document technical details comprehensively for new product development initiatives.
- Support the manufacturing process by advising on sheet metal fabrication, piping, tanks, refrigeration components, and bought-out items.
- Independently manage assigned projects with attention to detail, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant manufacturing processes and apply this knowledge to improve product designs.
- Conduct supplier evaluation and collaborate with vendors to ensure quality and cost objectives are met.
