VB6 Developer

We are seeking an experienced VB6 Developer with strong hands-on expertise in Visual Basic 6 (VB6), Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or later, and Seagate Crystal Reports 9. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing legacy applications, developing new features, troubleshooting technical issues, and optimizing overall system performance. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and efficient software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications developed in Visual Basic 6 (VB6).
- Develop and optimize applications using VB6 and SQL Server.
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, including joins, views, triggers, and stored procedures.
- Develop and maintain reports using Seagate Crystal Reports 9.
- Utilize ADO and ADODC for database connectivity and data manipulation.
- Troubleshoot application bugs and database performance issues to ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate closely with QA teams, business analysts, and fellow developers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Contribute to system improvements and performance optimization initiatives.
- Assist, optionally, in the migration of legacy applications to VB.NET or C#.

Required Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Visual Basic 6 (VB6) is mandatory.
- Solid experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or above, including writing and optimizing SQL queries and stored procedures.
- Hands-on experience with Seagate Crystal Reports 9 for report development and maintenance.
- Familiarity with ADO and ADODC for database connectivity.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and optimize database performance.
- Minimum of 5 years of practical experience in VB6 development.
- Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting legacy applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
Candidates with strong hands-on experience specifically in VB6, SQL Server 2008 (or above), and Crystal Reports 9 will be given preference. Experience in migrating legacy systems to modern platforms such as VB.NET or C# is considered an advantage but is not mandatory. The position requires working on-site to facilitate close collaboration with the team and ensure effective communication.
