Venturetronics is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Design and Assembly Engineer with at least one year of experience in mechanical design and assembly operations. The ideal candidate will design mechanical parts, assemblies, and sheet metal components while preparing comprehensive technical documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes. This role requires proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD, along with a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, Design For Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA), and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T). The engineer collaborates with production, quality, procurement, and electrical teams to ensure efficient project execution and product validation.
This position involves hands-on work both on the shop floor and in design environments, supporting prototype development and troubleshooting assembly line issues. The engineer will create work instructions, standard operating procedures, and other essential documentation to guide assembly processes and maintain quality standards. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to coordinate cross-functionally and resolve manufacturing challenges. Although this role does not involve managing a team, it demands initiative and a proactive approach to improving assembly processes and maintaining engineering records.
Responsibilities
Design mechanical parts, assemblies, sheet metal components, fixtures, and enclosures using CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Prepare detailed 3D models, manufacturing drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly drawings to support production needs.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), installation and operation manuals (IOMs), interface control documents (ICDs), assembly and process documentation, engineering reports, and design records.
Support prototype development activities, assist in testing phases, and contribute to product validation processes to ensure design robustness.
Coordinate effectively with production teams, electrical engineers, procurement, and quality assurance to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
Assist with assembly line activities by troubleshooting issues, recommending process improvements, and ensuring adherence to design specifications.
Apply Design For Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) principles to optimize product designs for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing and assembly.
Support vendor coordination by overseeing fabrication progress, addressing manufacturing issues, and implementing corrective actions as needed.
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on assembly and manufacturing challenges to identify solutions and implement corrective actions swiftly.
Maintain meticulous documentation control, including engineering revisions, project records, and compliance with safety and quality standards.
Ensure all engineering activities comply with relevant regulatory, safety, and quality requirements, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
