This part-time position is based at the PAC campus in Gulberg, Lahore, with teaching scheduled 2–3 days per week between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. The role involves delivering approximately 90 guided learning hours focused on programming over sessions lasting 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Initially offered as a visiting position for one year, there is potential for conversion to a permanent role depending on performance and institutional needs. Remuneration ranges from PKR 2,500 to 3,000 per teaching hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

Utilize realistic business project scenarios like inventory, admissions, bookings, or sales systems to foster independent problem-solving skills. Teach systematic testing methods using normal, boundary, and invalid data, along with debugging and software quality improvement techniques. Support students in maintaining comprehensive design documents, annotated code, test plans, development logs, feedback records, and evaluations. Assess student work against Pearson Pass, Merit, and Distinction criteria, providing clear, evidence-based feedback. Adhere to centre procedures for assessment, internal verification, record keeping, and academic integrity. Monitor individual progress and offer tailored support to learners with varying levels of prior programming experience. Assist students in articulating and defending their code, including any use of external resources or AI tools.

Required Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is essential. Candidates must demonstrate strong practical expertise in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C#, or C++. They should also possess sufficient knowledge of other languages and paradigms to facilitate meaningful comparisons. The ability to independently design, develop, test, debug, and explain complete software applications is required. A sound understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, algorithms, data handling, and software quality is necessary. Candidates must be able to communicate technical concepts clearly to beginners using practical examples. Strong written communication, organizational skills, and the ability to provide constructive student feedback are important. Availability for on-campus teaching at the specified location and times is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience teaching programming at A Level, Level 3, or undergraduate levels is highly desirable. Candidates with a background in supervising practical software projects and reviewing student code will be preferred. Professional software development experience supported by a portfolio or GitHub profile is advantageous. Familiarity with Pearson BTEC delivery, assessment, or internal verification processes is a plus. Knowledge of integrated development environments (IDEs), version control tools like Git/GitHub, databases, and diagramming software will be beneficial. Applicants without prior BTEC experience but with strong programming and teaching skills are encouraged to apply, provided they are willing to undertake relevant assessment training.

Applicants should submit an updated CV highlighting their programming teaching and software development experience, a portfolio or GitHub profile showcasing developed applications, and their weekly availability along with preferred teaching language. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to conduct a demonstration lesson and complete a practical coding/debugging task, followed by a discussion on supervising and assessing student projects.
