Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Specialist

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as a Visual Studio Code (VS Code) Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) responsible for creating realistic and challenging computer-based tasks using VS Code and related development workflows. Your role involves designing practical coding or editing assignments, clearly documenting them in SuperAnnotate, ensuring your computer setup supports the tasks, and recording yourself performing these tasks. The tasks may include code editing, file management, extension usage, debugging, formatting, script execution, terminal commands, Git integration, settings configuration, notebook work, or completing small development workflows. Your contributions will support the training of advanced AI models to better understand how real users perform software development tasks within a code editor.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop realistic and challenging VS Code tasks that can be executed on a computer, and document each task clearly within SuperAnnotate.
- Prepare your work environment by ensuring VS Code is installed, relevant files and projects are available, necessary extensions and dependencies are set up, and any required references are ready before recording.
- Record yourself executing the assigned VS Code tasks, following project instructions carefully to ensure workflows are clear, complete, and realistic.
- Provide comprehensive task context, including detailed steps, goals, project files, and notes, to help reviewers fully understand the task and how it was completed.
- Demonstrate practical software use by completing workflows involving editing, searching, debugging, formatting, running scripts, terminal operations, source control, extensions, or project organization as applicable.
- Maintain high-quality submissions by reviewing recordings and documentation to ensure tasks are complete, understandable, realistic, and aligned with project guidelines.

Required Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience using Visual Studio Code for coding, file editing, debugging, managing extensions, terminal workflows, Git integration, or other development tasks.
- English proficiency at B2 level or higher to comprehend project instructions, document tasks clearly, and communicate effectively with the project team.
- Comfortable with computer operations such as managing files, installing extensions, opening folders or projects, navigating codebases, and recording workflows.
- Ability to design realistic and challenging VS Code tasks that reflect actual use cases in coding, editing, debugging, scripting, documentation, or developer-tool workflows.
- Strong understanding of VS Code fundamentals, including Explorer, search, extensions, terminal, debugging, settings, formatting, source control, and workspace organization.
- Capability to ensure your setup fully supports the task requirements, including having VS Code installed, project files and extensions ready, and any necessary runtimes or references prepared before recording.
- High attention to detail in task preparation, workflow execution, and quality checking of recordings to ensure clarity and completeness.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to consistently deliver quality work in an hourly, remote contractor role across different time zones.
