Voip Engineer

SoftNexus Technologies is seeking a skilled VoIP Engineer for a remote contract position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining SIP/VoIP PBX environments and call center solutions to ensure high availability, excellent call quality, and overall system reliability. This role involves daily implementation and optimization of VoIP routes, integration of VoIP systems with CRM and communication platforms, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting telephony and network connectivity issues. The VoIP Engineer will work closely with development and support teams to deploy new features, document configuration changes, and uphold security and scalability best practices. Providing technical support to clients, participating in incident response, and continuously improving VoIP infrastructure and workflows are also key aspects of this role.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and maintain SIP/VoIP PBX systems and call center solutions.
- Implement and optimize VoIP routing to ensure efficient and reliable communication.
- Integrate VoIP platforms with CRM systems and other communication tools.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve telephony and network issues.
- Collaborate with development and support teams to deploy new features and updates.
- Document configuration changes and maintain detailed technical records.
- Follow security protocols and scalability best practices to safeguard infrastructure.
- Provide technical support and incident resolution for client VoIP environments.
- Participate in incident response and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies, including SIP trunking, PBX configuration, and call center solutions.
- Solid networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, Quality of Service (QoS), firewalls, and network performance monitoring.
- Proven experience in technical support and incident resolution, specifically diagnosing and fixing VoIP and connectivity issues.
- Hands-on experience with SIP/VoIP platforms and tools such as Asterisk, 3CX, Twilio, softphones, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools related to VoIP infrastructure.
- Experience working in cloud-hosted VoIP environments and understanding of security best practices.
- Knowledge of CRM or API integrations with telephony systems.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in a VoIP, telecom, or call center engineering role is highly desirable.
