This role involves conducting detailed geological and geomorphological investigations focused on water resources. The candidate will assess geological conditions that influence groundwater occurrence and recharge, supporting the selection of sites for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intakes. Identifying geological constraints and hazards that may impact infrastructure development is a critical part of the position. Additionally, the role requires preparing geological maps and providing technical inputs to aid infrastructure planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct geological and geomorphological surveys relevant to water resource management.
- Evaluate subsurface conditions affecting groundwater availability and recharge potential.
- Support site selection for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intake facilities based on geological assessments.
- Identify and report geological constraints and hazards that could affect infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed geological maps and technical documentation to support infrastructure planning and development.
- Demonstrate knowledge of water supply pump sets and associated network systems.
- Install dipper tubes in pump sets to monitor water levels accurately.
- Perform water quality analysis by understanding key parameters for drinking water.
- Complete data collection and reporting using Kobo Toolbox software.
- Willingness to work in field conditions for an extended period of approximately two months.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in engineering geology, geological investigations, or geotechnical engineering.
- At least 6 years of experience specifically in geological and geotechnical investigations related to water resources, groundwater development, or water supply projects.
- Strong practical skills in fieldwork, including geological mapping across diverse terrains.
- Proficient in logging boreholes and core samples with detailed lithological, structural, and geotechnical descriptions.
- Applied knowledge of geophysical methods for subsurface characterization and the ability to integrate geological and geophysical data effectively.
- Experience in supervising drilling operations, sampling protocols, and conducting related site investigations.
- Competence in using geological software and mapping tools such as GIS and geological modeling platforms, along with strong data analysis capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
While not explicitly stated, candidates with additional experience in advanced geophysical techniques or water resource modeling will be considered favorably. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with multidisciplinary teams on critical water resource projects, contributing to sustainable infrastructure development. Fieldwork experience will enhance practical skills and provide exposure to diverse geological settings.
This position is ideal for professionals seeking to apply their geological expertise to water resource management and infrastructure planning, with a strong emphasis on field investigations and technical reporting.
