The Water Supply Pumpset and Network Expert will play a critical role in conducting geological and geomorphological investigations related to water resources. This position involves assessing geological conditions that influence groundwater occurrence and recharge, supporting site selection for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intakes, and identifying geological constraints and hazards that may impact infrastructure development. The expert will also prepare geological maps and provide technical inputs essential for infrastructure planning. The role requires hands-on experience with water supply pumpsets and networks, including the installation of dipper tubes for water level monitoring. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with parameters for drinking water quality analysis and have experience using Kobo Toolbox for data collection. The position demands a willingness to work in the field for an extended period of up to two months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct geological and geomorphological investigations relevant to water resource management.
- Assess and interpret geological conditions affecting groundwater occurrence and recharge processes.
- Support site selection for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intake facilities based on geological data.
- Identify and evaluate geological constraints and hazards that could impact infrastructure development projects.
- Prepare detailed geological maps and provide technical inputs for planning and design of water supply infrastructure.
- Demonstrate knowledge and practical experience with water supply pumpsets and network systems.
- Install dipper tubes in pumpsets to monitor water levels accurately.
- Perform water quality analysis for drinking water, understanding relevant parameters and standards.
- Utilize Kobo Toolbox for data entry and form completion during fieldwork.
- Commit to fieldwork activities for a duration of up to two months, ensuring accurate data collection and site assessments.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in engineering geology, geological investigations, or geotechnical engineering.
- At least 6 years of specialized experience in geological and geotechnical investigations related to water resources, groundwater development, or water supply projects.
- Strong fieldwork skills, including geological mapping and working in diverse and challenging terrains.
- Proficiency in logging boreholes and cores, with detailed lithological, structural, and geotechnical descriptions.
- Applied knowledge of geophysical methods for subsurface characterization and integration of geological and geophysical data sets.
- Experience in supervising and advising drilling operations, sampling protocols, and related site investigations.
- Competence in using geological software and mapping tools such as GIS and geological modeling platforms.
- Strong data analysis capabilities to interpret complex geological information.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical water resource projects by applying geological expertise to support sustainable infrastructure development. Candidates should be prepared for extensive fieldwork and demonstrate a strong commitment to technical accuracy and environmental considerations.
