The Water Supply Pumpset and Network Expert will play a crucial role in conducting geological and geomorphological investigations related to water resources. This position involves assessing geological conditions that influence groundwater occurrence and recharge, supporting site selection for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intakes, and identifying geological constraints and hazards that may affect infrastructure development. The expert will also prepare geological maps and provide technical inputs essential for infrastructure planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed geological and geomorphological studies to support water resource management and infrastructure projects.
- Assess and interpret geological conditions affecting groundwater availability and recharge potential.
- Support the selection of appropriate sites for boreholes, recharge structures, and water intake points based on geological data.
- Identify and evaluate geological constraints and hazards that could impact the development and sustainability of water supply infrastructure.
- Prepare accurate geological maps and provide technical documentation to assist in infrastructure planning and decision-making.
- Demonstrate knowledge of water supply pumpsets and networks, including installation and monitoring techniques.
- Install dipper tubes in pumpsets to monitor water levels effectively.
- Conduct water quality analysis by understanding and applying relevant parameters for drinking water standards.
- Utilize Kobo Toolbox or similar digital tools for data collection and form filling during fieldwork.
- Willingness to work in field conditions for a period of two months to support project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in engineering geology, geological investigations, or geotechnical engineering.
- At least 6 years of experience specifically in geological and geotechnical investigations related to water resources, groundwater development, or water supply projects.
- Strong practical skills in fieldwork, including geological mapping across diverse terrains.
- Proficiency in logging boreholes and cores, with detailed lithological, structural, and geotechnical descriptions.
- Applied knowledge of geophysical methods for subsurface characterization and the ability to integrate geological and geophysical data effectively.
- Experience in supervising and advising on drilling operations, sampling protocols, and site investigations.
- Competence in using geological software and mapping tools such as GIS and geological modeling platforms, along with strong data analysis capabilities.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to critical water resource projects by applying advanced geological expertise and field experience. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure sustainable and scientifically sound water supply infrastructure development.
