This full-time, on-site role operates Monday through Saturday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, including a one-hour break. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in driving the creative process by researching market trends, identifying high-CTR topics, and crafting engaging scripts designed to maximize viewer retention and channel growth. This position requires a strategic mindset that goes beyond writing, involving the visual and structural design of videos to optimize watch time and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Topic Discovery & Ideation: Conduct thorough research on niches, competitor channels, and trending formats to propose high-potential video concepts, unique packaging angles, and compelling titles and thumbnails before scripting begins.
- Deep Research & Outlining: Analyze complex topics, case studies, and niche data to create concise, logical story arcs that balance informative content with entertainment value.
- Long-Form Scripting: Develop well-paced, engaging scripts for long-form YouTube videos (8–15+ minutes) tailored to specific target audiences and creator voices.
- Short-Form Scripting: Write dynamic, high-impact scripts for YouTube Shorts designed to capture attention quickly and encourage subscriber growth.
- Retention Engineering: Apply proven YouTube retention techniques such as cold opens, open loops, narrative stakes, pattern interrupts, and visual payoffs to enhance Average View Duration (AVD) and Click-Through Rate (CTR).
- Visual Direction for Post-Production: Format scripts with clear two-column or inline cues, including B-roll descriptions, sound design notes, kinetic typography, and motion cues, providing editors with a detailed roadmap for seamless video production.
Required Qualifications
- Proven YouTube Portfolio: Candidates must submit script samples along with links to published videos they have written for established YouTube channels. Applications without relevant YouTube links will not be considered.
- Comprehensive YouTube Knowledge: Demonstrated ability to analyze why videos perform well, from packaging elements like titles and thumbnails to retention metrics.
- Native-Level, Conversational English: Writing should be natural, punchy, and easy to speak aloud, avoiding academic or robotic tones.
- Editor-Minded Scripting: Strong awareness of visual pacing that anticipates asset gathering, scene transitions, and editing workload.
- Reliability and Speed: Ability to deliver structured outlines, research briefs, and polished drafts on tight agency deadlines without compromising quality or depth.
