Overview
We’re a friendly, close-knit team with a number of high-value, blue-chip clients. We have commercial offices in UK and Karachi. Now, thanks to sustained growth, we are looking to add to our team by employing a Senior Developer to help us improve our platform and systems.
As part of the development team, your day-to-day work will consist of working with fellow developers to build, test, and deploy new and exciting projects and features, and assisting on current projects to deliver new functionality and refactor existing code. You will need to be comfortable working across multiple codebases, which we’d want you to use your back- and front-end skills to develop.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Help gather and flesh out product requirements and work closely with our management team to define them
- Plan the implementation of new technical projects, and work closely with our design team to flesh out the user experience
- Build and maintain the most complex and crucial parts of our systems, with an eye to scalability, security, and performance
- Seek out and act upon feedback received and provide quality feedback to other team members to aid their personal development.
- Produce relevant documentation to describe logic, coding/configuration, testing and changes where applicable
- Undertake research on best practice guidelines and continuously strive to make improvements to the existing applications and/or systems, services and processes.
- Set an example to junior members of the team in all areas, but especially in professional conduct, development skill, code quality and organisation, respectful critical review, participation in (and occasional delivery of) workshops, learning lunches, system discussions, and so on.
Experience:
- Extensive experience developing commercial web applications
- Extensive experience with PHP using an MVC framework (Laravel preferred)
- Highly proficient with Javascript / Typescript and experienced with front-end frameworks such as React, Vue, and Angular
- Solid SQL and general database expertise, including microservice patterns for data access
- Solid experience creating APIs and web-services
- Solid, demonstrable knowledge of testing principles
- Experience with version control systems and workflows (eg. Git, Gitflow)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience mentoring or line-managing junior developers
Any relevant industry experience would be a plus
Essential skills:
- PHP Full Stack Software Development
- Laravel 5+ / equivalent PHP MVC framework
- Vue / React / Angular or other front-end framework
- Container-based development and deployment using eg. Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes
- MySQL or other relational database + MongoDB or other non-relational database
- SASS, LESS, other CSS preprocessors
- HTML, CSS 3 (Flex), UI / UX
- BitBucket, GitHub/Gitlab
Desirable skills:
- Payment Gateway Integration
- Knowledge of Cloud services integration
- Familiarity with DevOps
- Exposure to telecoms messaging standards and protocols, eg. GSM
- Experience of search engines like Sphinx, Lucene, or ElasticSearch with SEO experience
