We are seeking a skilled Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain robust backend systems that support SD&ED’s digital platforms. The ideal candidate will ensure these systems are scalable, secure, and highly available to meet the demands of a growing user base. This role involves working with modern backend frameworks, managing databases, and implementing best practices in system design and security to deliver reliable and efficient services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain server-side applications and APIs using Node.js with Express.js and/or NestJS.
- Design scalable system architectures capable of handling high-load environments.
- Manage database design, optimization, and ensure data integrity across SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB or similar) databases.
- Implement authentication, authorization, and security protocols to safeguard backend services.
- Integrate backend systems seamlessly with frontend applications and third-party services.
- Monitor system performance continuously and optimize backend processes for efficiency.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and fault tolerance of backend services.
- Maintain thorough technical documentation and adhere to version control best practices using Git and GitHub.

Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in backend frameworks, specifically Node.js with Express.js and/or NestJS.
- Strong experience with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases like MongoDB or similar technologies.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design; knowledge of GraphQL is a plus.
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git and GitHub, including branching strategies and collaborative workflows.
- Knowledge of backend architecture principles, database optimization, and security-first design.
- Ability to design scalable and maintainable backend systems.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits:
- Experience with microservices architecture is highly desirable.
- Basic DevOps skills, including working with Docker and CI/CD pipelines, are a plus.
- Exposure to scalability engineering and fault-tolerant system design will be advantageous.
