In this role, the developer thrives as a self-starter translating complex written specifications into scalable, maintainable software products independently. You will architect APIs and user interfaces that ensure secure, efficient communication between services while adhering to industry standards. This position does not involve managing a team but requires strong collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional groups. You will showcase prior project work, such as React single-page applications implementing real-time functionalities and optimistic UI updates using advanced data-fetching methods. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Python with FastAPI or Node.js with TypeScript, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security.
- Build and optimize React and React.js single-page applications with TypeScript, implementing real-time user interfaces through WebSockets or server-sent events (SSE) and managing state using modern data-fetching libraries like TanStack Query.
- Integrate complex third-party APIs in government, banking, or payments sectors, handling OAuth2 client-credentials flow, JSON Schema validation, idempotency, retry logic, and structured error parsing for robust communication.
- Architect and manage PostgreSQL databases focusing on audit-trail features and immutable record design to meet regulatory compliance standards and support data integrity.
- Implement and enforce security best practices, including secrets management, encryption at rest, and role-based access controls, to safeguard sensitive information in fintech and regtech applications.
- Translate detailed specifications and regulatory requirements into reliable, maintainable, and well-documented software components with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and quality assurance teams to ensure timely delivery of features and adherence to project goals.
- Participate in code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure high code quality and proper system functionality.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and technology stack to optimize software performance, security, and scalability.
- Leverage prior experience working in regulatory technology domains to design maker-checker workflows and audit logging systems that comply with relevant financial regulations.
- Engage with cloud infrastructure environments, particularly AWS in the ca-central-1 region, supporting deployment, monitoring, and scaling of applications.
- Explore and implement additional technologies like Redis pub/sub and bulk file processing pipelines to enhance application responsiveness and data handling capabilities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in software development, security, and fintech compliance.
