Database and AI Support Engineer

Arango is seeking a skilled Database and AI Support Engineer to join our remote team based in India. In this role, you will provide expert support for our unified multimodel contextual data platform that integrates graph, vector, document, key-value, and search capabilities. Your work will help enterprises operationalize AI by connecting fragmented data with large language models (LLMs), copilots, and AI agents, enabling faster deployment of reliable AI systems while reducing infrastructure complexity and costs.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for database systems including ArangoDB, Neo4j, or similar multimodel databases.
- Optimize database performance through data modeling, query tuning, indexing, clustering, replication, and backup strategies.
- Assist customers with AI-related technologies such as LLMs, embeddings, vector search, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt engineering.
- Manage and troubleshoot cloud and infrastructure components, including Linux environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters (AKS/EKS/OpenShift), and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.
- Analyze logs, diagnose root causes of complex issues, and collaborate closely with Engineering teams to resolve product defects.
- Develop and maintain clear technical documentation and knowledge base articles to support customer success and internal teams.
- Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring customer concerns are understood and addressed promptly.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, QA, and Customer Success teams to enhance product quality and customer experience.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in support engineering or a related technical role.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with multimodel databases such as ArangoDB or Neo4j.
- Strong expertise with Kubernetes and Helm for container orchestration and deployment.
- Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) and hybrid on-premises environments.
- Familiarity with storage solutions including EBS, gp3, MinIO, and S3-compatible systems.
- Proficient in debugging networking issues involving load balancers, DNS, service endpoints, timeouts, and ingress controllers.
- Comfortable working in Linux environments using SSH, jump boxes, and cluster-admin workflows.
- Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or similar languages, with the ability to read and understand code.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a methodical approach to root cause analysis and issue resolution.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
