This role focuses on the creation, updating, and maintenance of GIS maps and spatial datasets specifically tailored for telecommunications networks. The successful candidate will perform spatial analyses related to cell sites, fiber routes, coverage areas, and network planning initiatives. Managing telecom-specific GIS layers and supporting coverage analysis, site feasibility studies, and network optimization are essential aspects of the position. Proficiency in handling various spatial data formats such as shapefiles, KML/KMZ, and GeoJSON is required. Ensuring the accuracy and quality of GIS datasets through validation and quality control is a critical responsibility. Additionally, the role involves generating thematic maps, dashboards, and reports for management, assisting in the cleanup and migration of legacy GIS data, and maintaining comprehensive GIS documentation and metadata. The candidate will utilize GIS software platforms including ESRI and QGIS to accomplish these tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, update, and maintain GIS maps and spatial datasets for telecom networks.
- Conduct spatial analysis related to cell sites, fiber routes, coverage, and network planning.
- Manage and update telecom-related GIS layers to support operational needs.
- Assist in coverage analysis, site feasibility assessments, and network optimization projects.
- Work with multiple spatial data formats including shapefiles, KML/KMZ, and GeoJSON.
- Ensure data accuracy through rigorous validation and quality control processes.
- Generate thematic maps, dashboards, and detailed reports for management review.
- Support legacy GIS data cleanup and migration efforts to modern systems.
- Maintain accurate GIS documentation and metadata for all datasets.
- Utilize GIS software tools such as ESRI and QGIS effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Open to fresh graduates or candidates with relevant experience in the design, development, and implementation of GIS systems.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Information
- Prior experience as a GIS Analyst, preferably within the telecommunications sector.
- Strong understanding of spatial data concepts, including projections and coordinate systems.
- Basic knowledge of spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS is advantageous.
- Skills in remote sensing and satellite image interpretation are a plus.
- Ability to translate technical requirements into practical GIS solutions.
- This position is based in Islamabad, Pakistan, with both the test and interview conducted locally.
- Preference will be given to candidates domiciled in Pakistan.
