We are excited to grow our Technology Team in Pakistan with a vision to establish Karachi as a leading global tech hub. The Engineering Manager role offers a unique opportunity to lead a talented technical team in delivering top-tier products, adopting cutting-edge industry trends, and challenging peers to excel. You will be involved in designing and delivering complex products that handle millions of requests daily.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and develop cloud-based software applications that support business growth.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Infrastructure, Design, UX, CLM, and Strategy to deliver high-quality products.
- Enforce agile practices such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and test automation.
- Work with offshore teams to resolve architectural and delivery challenges.
- Manage and prioritize technical backlog effectively, balancing immediate needs with future goals.
- Analyze and resolve production issues while building fault tolerance and operational readiness into system architecture.
- Own non-functional requirements, architectural direction, code quality, and technical debt management.
- Apply deep knowledge of scalability and high availability systems.
- Foster a strong culture of engineering excellence and focus on team health.
- Mentor team members on good code design patterns and best practices.
- Recruit and build high-performing teams by hiring top talent and raising engineering standards.
- Identify growth opportunities and tailor personal development paths for each team member.
- Lead the team both technically and in project/product management capacities.
- Ensure the highest security standards across all platforms and infrastructure.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of experience in server-side and client-side software development.
- At least 3 years in a management role with experience leading teams, including performance and people management.
- Strong expertise in free and open-source software development, including languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, and Objective-C.
- Deep understanding of scalability and high availability system design.
- Experience managing live production applications, including monitoring, incident management, and remediation.
- Solid knowledge of RESTful service design, API best practices, and building resilient distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience with AWS and its ecosystem is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.
- Proven track record working on high-traffic, large-scale web products.
