Intrologics is pioneering the future of local commerce with Groser, an autonomous delivery system designed to transport groceries and eligible goods via drones with minimal human intervention. We are seeking a Founding Robotics & Autonomous Delivery Systems Engineer to help architect, prototype, and validate this innovative technology. This role offers the unique opportunity to build a commercially viable autonomous drone delivery platform integrated directly with Groser’s local commerce ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design or integrate an autonomous unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of completing delivery missions, including flight controllers, navigation, propulsion, batteries, payload capacity, and endurance.
- Implement autonomous flight features such as waypoint navigation, obstacle detection and avoidance, geofencing, return-to-home, and emergency protocols.
- Develop a secure, electronically controlled cargo system with QR-based verification for supplier handover and customer collection, including controlled cargo-release mechanisms and payload placement.
- Create intelligent docking infrastructure for automated landing, charging or battery exchange, system diagnostics, mission preparation, and secure storage, supporting multi-drone and multi-location operations.
- Integrate drone control systems with Groser’s order lifecycle via secure APIs and event-driven communication, managing mission assignment, routing, status updates, delivery verification, exception handling, and return-to-base workflows.
- Explore blockchain wallet integration for payments, supplier settlements, and tipping, ensuring secure transaction authorization and reliable payment workflows under network interruptions.
- Develop simulations and prototypes to validate system performance, establish measurable targets for payload, range, delivery accuracy, and reliability, and implement telemetry, fault detection, audit logs, and safe recovery procedures.
- Ensure compliance with aviation, privacy, cybersecurity, and operational regulations before live flight tests and commercial deployments.
Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in robotics and autonomous systems, including navigation, control systems, and sensor integration, with experience developing or integrating UAVs or similar cyber-physical systems.
- Proficiency in embedded systems and hardware integration, including C/C++ and/or Python programming, microcontrollers, embedded Linux, sensors, actuators, communication interfaces, and hardware debugging.
- Practical knowledge of UAV flight systems and navigation, familiar with flight controllers such as PX4 or ArduPilot, GPS/GNSS navigation, telemetry, mission planning, and flight safety.
- Experience in software architecture and system integration, capable of designing REST APIs, event-driven workflows, asynchronous processing, and device-to-cloud communication.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to document system architecture, interfaces, and testing procedures, and a prototype-first mindset balancing cost, safety, performance, and scalability.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Experience in the following areas is highly advantageous: ROS 2 middleware, computer vision (OpenCV, object detection, QR/barcode recognition), autonomous navigation technologies (LiDAR, SLAM, sensor fusion), smart cargo engineering (electronic locks, load sensors), docking and charging systems, cloud and IoT platforms (MQTT, telemetry, fleet monitoring), backend development (TypeScript/Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL), mobile/web integration, blockchain and Web3 technologies, UAV safety and compliance, and product development skills including CAD and rapid prototyping.
Candidates with backgrounds in robotics, UAV engineering, embedded systems, mechatronics, or related fields who enjoy tackling complex interdisciplinary challenges are encouraged to apply. A relevant degree is beneficial but demonstrable engineering ability and hands-on project experience are paramount.
What We Offer
This role provides the chance to shape a groundbreaking autonomous delivery product from inception through to commercial readiness. You will be directly involved in product architecture, prototyping, and technical decision-making within a real-world commerce platform. There is significant potential for growth alongside the product and engineering team, with employment terms, compensation, and the possibility of a founding technical leadership position tailored to your experience.
Interested candidates should apply through Intrologics’ careers platform and include a CV, links to relevant projects, a description of a challenging system they have built or integrated, and details of tools and hardware used. This is a rare opportunity to lead innovation at the intersection of robotics, autonomous delivery, and local commerce.
