A new Chief Executive Officer is sought to steer the organisation through its next decade. The successful candidate will be Karachi-based and demonstrate leadership qualities including:

  • Philanthropic approach to empowering the rural communities of Pakistani to achieve development with dignity
  • Cross-sector track record in engaging whole-of-project teams from sponsors/donors to equipment supply chain to rural community members
  • Entrepreneurship and innovation in achieving social change and livelihood enhancement
  • Track record of leadership positions of organisations in the social sector, public sector and/or private/commercial sectors
  • Networks and connections in Pakistan including government, donor, NGO and charity sectors
  • Alignment of career values with IET’s values of ‘development with dignity’ and empowerment of the rural communities of Sindh/Pakistan

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Extensive connections throughout Pakistan including government, donor, NGO and charity sectors
  • Karachi based candidates preferred as the CEO will be required to manage the Karachi office and team, and visit regional offices and projects in Sindh

The successful candidate must have a willingness and capability to take responsibility for the financial sustainability as well as operational success of the organisation. The existing board of trustees and team of staff in the head office and field stations will be available to support the successful candidate take this dynamic organisation through its next decade. The outgoing CEO will be available as a consultant for at least 6 month training phase for the new CEO, and as a board member beyond that.

The post could suit a philanthropist seeking their next challenge, or a successful business person returning to Pakistan wishing to raise standards of living for the country. Remuneration will be proportional to fundraising initiatives achieved by the team headed by the new CEO. A willingness to take responsibiltiy for the financial structure and operation of the whole organisation is an important criteria for this post.

Established in 2000 in Karachi to aid neglected coastal communities in Pakistan, IET realized the impossibility of pin-pointing a single issue hindering development. Digital media), Zainab Kokar (architect), Sadaffe Ahmed( ex CEO of Kasmi Micro Credit Foundation), Feroze Deane (Industrailist. Retired.) Abbas Bilgrami (Energy specialist). IET’s head office is in Karachi, Pakistan and has field offices and a training centre in regional Sindh within 2 hours drive of Karachi.
