Oaktree, a global leader in alternative investment management with $203 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2025, is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events. This role focuses on handling complex transactions such as bankruptcy restructurings, private deals, bank debt amendments, and proxy voting. The Senior Manager will work closely with various internal teams—including bank debt processing, trade processing, accounting, pricing, legal, tax, compliance, and investment professionals—as well as external parties like custodians, outside counsel, and agents. This position is essential to maintaining the integrity of Oaktree’s books and records while ensuring full compliance with internal procedures and audit standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of corporate action events across multiple accounts, funds, and special purpose vehicles.
- Confirm details of bankruptcy restructuring transactions through collaboration with investment professionals and internal departments such as accounting, tax, legal, compliance, and pricing.
- Analyze and process complex corporate events using Oaktree’s Geneva accounting platform, coordinating with data vendors and external agents as necessary.
- Monitor compliance with event processing timelines and validate adherence to daily procedures and audit requirements.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in position and cash reconciliations related to corporate actions in partnership with relevant teams.
- Capture and analyze data to support and improve established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Manage relationships with subscribed vendors and other service providers to ensure smooth operations.
- Review and update departmental procedures to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Build and sustain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers, including attorneys, agents, and custodians.
- Undertake additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 6 to 10+ years of relevant experience in corporate actions, with specific expertise in equity and debt instruments, including syndicated and non-syndicated loans.
- Strong knowledge of ISO/SWIFT standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to perform well under pressure.
- Proven problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and process improvement.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and a flexible, team-oriented approach.
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
