We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant with an ACCA qualification and 1 to 2 years of relevant accounting experience to join our Finance & Accounts team. The successful candidate will support accounting and bookkeeping activities specifically for UK-based clients. This role requires a strong willingness to develop expertise in UK accounting standards, VAT, and HMRC-related processes. The working hours for this position are from 1 pm to 9 pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting tasks for UK clients.
- Record sales, purchases, expenses, invoices, and other financial transactions accurately.
- Perform bank and account reconciliations regularly.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
- Assist in the preparation of UK VAT returns.
- Keep accurate ledgers and accounting records up to date.
- Support the preparation of monthly and year-end accounts.
- Assist with UK tax and accounting-related duties.
- Handle HMRC-related documentation and compliance requirements.
- Review financial records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain proper financial documentation and supporting records.
- Utilize accounting software for bookkeeping and financial data management.
- Coordinate closely with senior accountants and the Finance Manager.
- Ensure all assigned accounting tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- ACCA qualification is mandatory; Part Qualified, Affiliate, or fully Qualified ACCA candidates are encouraged to apply.
- 1 to 2 years of relevant accounting experience is essential.
- Proven experience in bookkeeping and accounting functions.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Knowledge of reconciliations, ledgers, invoices, and financial statements.
- Basic knowledge of UK accounting standards and VAT regulations.
- Strong willingness to learn and work on UK tax and HMRC-related matters.
- Proficient in MS Excel with strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
- Experience working with UK-based clients is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with UK VAT and bookkeeping practices.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of HMRC processes will be an advantage.
- Previous experience in a UK accounting firm or a finance team focused on UK clients is preferred.
