Pakistan's Polio Eradication Programme seeks to establish a roster of qualified Communication Support Officers to provide surge capacity for communication, media, advocacy, digital engagement and multimedia production activities on an as-needed basis. Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the designated UNICEF Communication Officer, and as assigned through individual work orders, the Communication Support Officer may be required to undertake the following:

1. Content Production

  • Capture high-quality photography and videography during field visits, vaccination campaigns, community engagement activities, trainings, and events.
  • Produce short-form and long-form videos for digital platforms and advocacy purposes.
  • Conduct interviews with frontline workers, community members, caregivers, influencers, and programme personnel.
  • Document programme activities in hard-to-reach, emergency-affected, and high-risk areas.

2. Storytelling and Script Development

  • Develop storyboards, concepts, and creative treatments for communication products.
  • Draft scripts for videos, public service announcements, social media content, and campaign materials.
  • Develop human-interest stories, success stories, and field narratives.
  • Translate technical programme information into engaging, audience-appropriate content. 

3. Editing and Multimedia Production

  • Edit video content for digital, broadcast, and presentation purposes.
  • Produce subtitled videos in English and Urdu.
  • Develop motion graphics and multimedia content where required.
  • Edit photographs and prepare content packages for dissemination.

4. Graphic Design and Digital Content

  • Design social media cards, infographics, web graphics, and campaign materials.
  • Adapt content for digital platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, and X.
  • Support development of visual communication materials aligned with PEI branding guidelines.
  • Ensure all products comply with PEI branding, visibility, safeguarding, and communication standards.

5. Digital Engagement Support

  • Support influencer engagement activities and digital campaigns.
  • Provide content recommendations tailored to platform-specific audiences.
  • Package content for rapid dissemination during campaigns and emergency responses.
  • Organise and archive communication assets, including photographs, videos, testimonials, and campaign documentation, in accordance with UNICEF information management requirements.

6. Media and Advocacy Support

  • Support communication activities related to media engagements, advocacy initiatives, donor visibility, partner engagement events, and high-level visits.
  • Prepare visual and multimedia assets for communication products, presentations, reports, and advocacy materials.
  • Support rapid content development and dissemination during vaccination campaigns, outbreaks, or emergency communication responses.

Qualification Required:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Mass Communication, Media and Communication Studies, Multimedia Studies, or Public Relations.

Experienced Required:

  • Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in communications, journalism, multimedia production, public information, media relations, digital communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience producing communication products for public, media, government, donor, and community audiences.
  • Experience supporting public health, development, humanitarian, or social impact programmes is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in field settings and documenting programme activities is an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to undertake field travel, including to remote, hard-to-reach, emergency-affected, and high-risk locations, when required.

  • Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta
  • Candidates may be deployed to support activities throughout Pakistan, including remote and hard-to-reach locations, subject to programme requirements.
