Pambits seeks a highly skilled Shopify Developer Expert with a minimum of five years of experience to elevate their refurbished technology store to a premium, bespoke level. This role focuses on creating a customized, high-end storefront that seamlessly blends unique design elements with advanced Shopify capabilities. The ideal candidate is proficient in custom Shopify theme development using Liquid templating, capable of building tailored themes and sections that avoid the typical Shopify template appearance. They will bring a strong command of front-end skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive web design with a focus on optimizing user experience across desktop and mobile devices. The role entails implementing smooth micro-interactions, refined typography, and cohesive branding to achieve an agency-quality store that reflects a fast, polished, and bespoke feel.
This position includes the innovative task of creating a Digital Product Passport for each refurbished device, ensuring transparency and authenticity by showcasing detailed product data such as condition grade, battery health, component history, warranty terms, and environmental impact. The developer will construct scalable Liquid templates using Shopify metafields and metaobjects to generate unique, verifiable product identities accessible via links and QR codes. Additionally, the role involves comprehensive debugging and optimization to resolve layout glitches, enhance performance, and ensure seamless cart and checkout experience. Although no team management is required, the ideal candidate will demonstrate autonomy, technical excellence, and a keen eye for premium, high-end ecommerce design.
Responsibilities
- Develop bespoke Shopify themes from the ground up using Liquid templating language, ensuring the storefront avoids any typical Shopify template appearance and fully reflects a premium, custom-built website.
- Design and implement visually distinctive layouts with refined typography, thoughtful spacing, and smooth micro-interactions that enhance brand consistency across both desktop and mobile platforms.
- Create and maintain custom Liquid sections and templates integrated with Shopify metafields and metaobjects to implement advanced functionality such as the Digital Product Passport feature.
- Build per-product Digital Product Passports that provide transparent and trustworthy details including condition grade, battery health, component replacements, cosmetic condition, full specifications, serial or IMEI references, refurbishment dates, warranty terms, authenticity verification, product photos, and environmental impact data.
- Implement unique and scalable access methods for the Digital Product Passport through individual links and scannable QR codes suitable for product packaging and online verification.
- Conduct thorough debugging efforts to identify and fix layout bugs, performance bottlenecks, cart and checkout issues, and mobile responsiveness problems to ensure the store runs smoothly and efficiently.
- Optimize site performance with a mobile-first approach, applying best practices in front-end development to ensure fast loading times and responsive design.
- Collaborate closely with project stakeholders to understand business goals, deliver project milestones on schedule, and clearly communicate technical challenges and solutions.
- Continuously research and apply advanced Shopify development techniques, including potential headless commerce approaches such as Hydrogen, and integrate third-party apps and APIs as needed.
- Maintain clean, scalable, and well-documented codebases that can evolve with the companys expanding needs and facilitate future enhancements.
