Punjabi Language Expert

In this hourly, remote contractor position, you will serve as a Punjabi Language Specialist (Subject Matter Expert) responsible for reviewing AI-generated Punjabi content and creating high-quality reference material. Your role involves evaluating language quality and reasoning processes while providing clear, precise written feedback. You will assess AI outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural relevance, and adherence to prompts. Additionally, you will identify errors related to meaning, mistranslation, register (formal vs. informal), ambiguity, and logical consistency. Fact-checking claims, producing high-quality rewrites and model answers that exemplify best practices in Punjabi writing, and rating multiple AI responses based on correctness and overall quality will also be key aspects of your work.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop AI Training Content by creating prompts and gold-standard Punjabi answers across various domains, including general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
- Optimize AI Performance through evaluation and ranking of AI outputs to improve fluency, accuracy, tone alignment, and cultural appropriateness.
- Ensure Model Integrity by detecting unsafe or misleading content, factual inaccuracies (hallucinations), bias, and policy-risk language, while validating the reliability of outputs across different use cases.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Punjabi or English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Punjabi, with strong reading and writing skills.
- Professional proficiency in English at a minimum C1 level to accurately follow guidelines and provide detailed feedback in English.
- At least 3 years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content quality assurance, journalism, education, or other language-focused roles.
- Deep understanding of Punjabi grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, with the ability to explain errors and suggest corrections clearly.
- Familiarity with script requirements, including Gurmukhi (India) and/or Shahmukhi (Pakistan); candidates should specify which script(s) they can read and write.
- Ability to handle multiple language registers (formal and informal), dialect variations, and adapt content for audiences in India, Pakistan, and the diaspora.
- High attention to detail for detecting subtle shifts in meaning, awkward literal translations, hallucinated claims, or culturally inappropriate phrasing.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of maintaining consistent quality within an hourly, remote contractor workflow across different time zones.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
