Civil Engineer

Saudi Architects, a premier multi-disciplinary design and engineering consultancy based in Riyadh, is seeking a highly experienced Civil Engineer with over 10 years of professional practice. This role focuses on handling technical leadership in civil and structural engineering spanning luxury residential villas, commercial and residential high-rise towers, and business parks. The ideal candidate is proficient with advanced industry tools and possesses a comprehensive understanding of codes and regulations relevant to Saudi Arabia and international standards. The successful candidate will contribute to design excellence and ensure project execution aligns with the highest quality, cost efficiency, and timeline expectations in a dynamic, multinational team environment. This position requires strong technical expertise in structural and civil design with hands-on experience in all project phases including concept, schematic, and detailed design, through to construction documentation and site supervision. Though this role does not involve managing a team, it demands close collaboration with interdisciplinary teams and direct coordination with government authorities and clients. The Civil Engineer will have a critical role in driving value engineering initiatives, quality assurance, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, impacting prestigious developments aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals.

Responsibilities

Lead civil and structural design activities through all project stages, including concept development, schematic design, detailed design, and construction document preparation.
Develop, review, and verify structural calculations, foundation solutions, retaining walls, slab systems, and other engineering elements for diverse project types.
Produce and authorize detailed civil engineering drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and design basis reports ensuring compliance with international standards and Saudi Building Code.
Conduct geotechnical site investigations, soil report interpretations, and oversee related testing to inform design and construction decisions.
Facilitate value engineering workshops to optimize material use, enhance structural systems, and deliver cost-effective solutions without sacrificing quality or safety.
Supervise on-site civil construction activities, assuring strict adherence to approved plans, specifications, and safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams including architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineers to ensure integrated and efficient project delivery.
Prepare, maintain, and update project schedules, milestone tracking documents, and construction progress reports for reporting to senior management and clients.
Review and approve contractor shop drawings, material submissions, method statements, and requests for information to guarantee compliance with project requirements.
Perform regular site inspections, quality control audits, and punch-list reviews to ensure the highest standards are maintained until project completion.
Liaise with municipalities, government authorities, and regulatory agencies to secure necessary permits, approvals, and no objection certificates in a timely manner.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients, communicating engineering solutions clearly and effectively to build and sustain client confidence.
Maintain comprehensive familiarity with Saudi Building Code, international codes such as ACI, BS, and Eurocode, and project-specific engineering criteria.
Collaborate with site supervisors and engineers to align construction activities with design intent and resolve technical challenges promptly.
Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations throughout all phases of project design and delivery.
Contribute to the continual professional development of engineering knowledge by keeping up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and regulations in civil engineering.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech) from a recognized, accredited university (Mandatory)
Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or Construction Management (Strongly preferred)
Professional Engineer (PE) license, or equivalent international certification (Highly Desirable)

Experience:

Minimum 10 years of progressive Civil Engineering experience post-graduation
At least 5 years in a senior or lead engineering role managing complex multi-discipline projects
Prior experience working with international PMC firms on large-scale developments
Willing to relocate to Saudi Arabia.
