Our client is developing a consumer application designed to help users verify Islamic claims by referencing traceable and reliable sources. They are seeking a senior engineer to enhance the systems that transform source materials into accurate answers. This role involves improving processes from knowledge ingestion and retrieval to agent orchestration and ensuring high production performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and refine agent workflows for claim analysis, retrieval, verification, and response generation.
- Optimize orchestration processes, including routing, state management, parallel execution, retries, and failure recovery.
- Design and optimize graph, SQL, and vector-search queries, along with indexing strategies, filtering, and reranking.
- Develop reliable knowledge ingestion pipelines that handle validation, entity resolution, deduplication, incremental updates, and re-indexing.
- Maintain source provenance and citation metadata while ensuring consistency in graph and vector data representations.
- Reduce response times and operational costs through profiling, caching, concurrency management, model selection, and efficient context handling.
- Create evaluation frameworks and regression checks to assess retrieval quality, verdict accuracy, citation correctness, and proper handling of insufficient evidence.
- Monitor production systems, investigate failures, and collaborate closely with product engineers and domain specialists.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience with significant ownership of production backend or distributed systems.
- Proven experience in shipping and operating applications involving large language models (LLMs), agent workflows, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems used by real customers.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including asynchronous programming, API development, testing, profiling, and debugging.
- Familiarity with orchestration systems such as LangGraph or LangSmith, or comparable platforms.
- Practical knowledge of embeddings, vector search, hybrid retrieval methods, reranking, and structured model outputs.
- Advanced SQL skills with experience in query optimization.
- Experience building ingestion or ETL/ELT pipelines that incorporate validation, retries, incremental processing, and recovery mechanisms.
- Demonstrated ability to improve production quality, reduce latency, enhance reliability, or lower operational costs.
- Excellent communication skills and the capability to independently manage technical challenges from investigation through to production deployment.
Preferred Qualifications and Benefits
Preferred experience includes working with Neo4j, Cypher, knowledge modeling, or graph RAG/graph databases. Exposure to consumer-facing AI applications is advantageous. Familiarity with Qdrant, PostgreSQL, Supabase, TypeScript, or Next.js is also beneficial. Experience with multilingual or Arabic retrieval and evaluation, as well as text, image, audio, or video processing, will be considered a plus.
The technical environment includes Python, FastAPI, LangGraph, Neo4j, Qdrant, TypeScript, Next.js, Supabase, and PostgreSQL.
Benefits
The role offers 21 paid working days annually, covering vacation, personal, and sick leave, in addition to agreed holidays including major Islamic holidays.
