Senior Software Engineer (Database Focus)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with extensive expertise in databases, database migrations, performance optimization, and large-scale data processing to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server, including managing database migrations, upgrades, production support, and handling complex data workflows. This role demands a proactive individual capable of delivering robust database solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize databases primarily using PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Lead and execute database migration and upgrade projects, including hands-on data migration between PostgreSQL and SQL Server platforms.
- Provide production support by ensuring database performance, reliability, availability, and data integrity.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and data-processing routines.
- Create advanced stored procedures for large-scale batch processing tasks such as matching, allocations, distributions, and reconciliations.
- Perform database performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, backup, and recovery activities.
- Analyze and resolve complex database and data-related issues efficiently.
- Collaborate on migration projects involving multiple database platforms and technologies.
- Support Power BI implementations by managing data connectivity, reporting, query performance, and underlying database optimization.
- Work closely with developers, technical teams, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver effective database solutions.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience as a Senior DBA or Senior Database Engineer with a strong focus on PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in database migrations, particularly across PostgreSQL and SQL Server environments.
- Solid experience with database upgrades, data migration projects, and cross-platform database migrations.
- Extensive background in supporting and optimizing production databases.
- Proficiency in writing complex stored procedures and SQL scripts for large batch-processing workloads involving data-intensive operations such as matching, allocations, distributions, and reconciliations.
- Strong skills in database performance tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, backup, and recovery.
- Experience with Power BI, including data connectivity, reporting, and performance optimization.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- A good understanding of programming concepts is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications and Additional Skills

- Experience with .NET / C# and ASP.NET Core frameworks.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Knowledge of RabbitMQ messaging systems.
- Experience working with Docker and Kubernetes container orchestration.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to Agile methodologies.
- AWS experience, particularly with EC2, S3, and RDS services.
