At Cybernetic Controls Limited (CCL), we are dedicated to being a global leader in delivering innovative digital solutions that help businesses achieve their full potential. As a remote-first organization, we prioritize flexibility and trust, enabling our employees to work in ways that best suit their individual needs. Since our establishment in 2020, we have successfully provided high-quality resources to clients within the FinTech sector across various business domains.

We are seeking a motivated law graduate or newly qualified paralegal eager to develop deep expertise in financial services regulation while working at the cutting edge of regulatory technology. This entry-level role offers structured onboarding and mentorship on regulatory content, so prior detailed knowledge of frameworks like MiFID II is not required. The ideal candidate will be rigorous, curious, and committed to precision. You will act as the critical link between legal source material and our data pipeline and machine learning models, reviewing regulatory changes, validating how our models classify and structure content, and ensuring the platform’s outputs align exactly with authoritative sources. While you don’t need to be a data scientist, your human judgment will be essential in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Review regulatory change: Monitor and analyze updates to relevant regulations and exchange rulebooks, including EU and UK financial services regulations. Assess the nature, timing, and materiality of changes, ensuring accurate capture within the platform. Maintain clear and auditable records of all review decisions.

- Validate machine learning topic modelling: Evaluate the output of machine learning models to confirm correct classification of regulatory content. Identify misclassifications and edge cases, providing structured feedback to improve model performance. Assist in maintaining a consistent and effective topic taxonomy and data definitions as regulations evolve.

- Check rulebook structural integrity: Compare integrated and consolidated rulebooks in the platform against original regulatory sources to verify structural accuracy, including article hierarchy, ordering, versioning, and effective dates. Detect and escalate any gaps, duplications, or extraction errors. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to resolve issues and strengthen quality controls.

- Build the service: Respond to client demands for additional data to accelerate service development. Review and quality assure written development requirements. Work closely with software engineering teams to process new regulations from initial capture through to product integration.

Required Qualifications

- A law degree, paralegal qualification, or equivalent legal training.

- Some exposure to financial services regulation, RegTech, or legal/compliance environments through study, internships, or work experience.

- Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot even minor inconsistencies in legal documents.

- Discipline to consistently follow structured review and quality assurance processes while maintaining clear documentation of decisions.

- Strong written communication skills, capable of producing review notes and feedback understandable to both legal and technical teams.

Preferred Qualifications and Benefits

- A genuine interest in financial services regulation, with a willingness to develop in-depth knowledge.

- Curiosity about AI and machine learning technologies, even without prior technical experience; training will be provided.

- Familiarity with regulatory data sources such as EUR-Lex/CELEX, FCA Handbook, exchange circulars, or rulebook publication feeds.

- Experience using tools like Jira and Confluence.

- Benefits include 25 days of paid holiday plus UK bank holidays, healthcare contributions, an annual pay review, opportunities for professional development and training, monthly social events with prizes, and a company laptop.

This role offers a unique opportunity to grow your expertise at the intersection of law, regulation, and technology within a supportive, flexible, and innovative company culture.
