UK Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Semi Accountant to join our on-site team. The ideal candidate brings at least one year of relevant bookkeeping and accounting experience, demonstrating proficiency in essential financial processes, including accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliation, and financial reporting. This role demands a strong understanding of accounting software, particularly Xero and QuickBooks, as well as practical experience in preparing VAT and UK personal tax returns. Clear and effective communication skills are necessary for liaising with UK staff via phone and written correspondence. Attention to detail and excellent organizational capabilities are critical to accurately managing financial records and contributing to smooth accounting operations. In this position, you will be responsible for processing and tracking expense reports, managing invoicing, and assisting with tax preparation. You will also support the finalization of trial balances and contribute to the preparation of financial statements. The role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to manage multiple financial tasks efficiently while maintaining accuracy. Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
  • Conduct bank reconciliations, ensuring all discrepancies are investigated and resolved promptly.
  • Prepare and maintain financial reports that provide clear insight into company transactions.
  • Track and document expenses thoroughly, maintaining organized and up-to-date financial records.
  • Use accounting software such as Xero and QuickBooks to record and manage financial data effectively.
  • Generate and send customer invoices, following up on payment collections as necessary.
  • Assist with VAT return preparations in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Support the preparation and submission of UK personal tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Finalize trial balances, ensuring all accounts are correctly balanced and discrepancies addressed.
  • Communicate professionally and confidently with UK staff members via phone and written formats to clarify financial matters and resolve queries.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial information and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Organize and file financial documents systematically to facilitate quick retrieval and audit readiness.
  • Continuously update knowledge of relevant tax laws, accounting standards, and industry best practices to ensure compliance.
