Quantity Surveyor

Zarrar & Co. is seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor with extensive experience in managing detailed quantity take-offs, cost estimation, and project budgeting for civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a relevant field and brings a minimum of ten years of professional experience. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and quantity surveying software, along with a deep understanding of construction materials, methods, and contract documentation. The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for verifying and preparing Bills of Quantities, ensuring accurate cost control, and assisting in project close-out processes while maintaining close coordination with consultants, contractors, and engineering teams. The position demands strong analytical skills to interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately, prepare interim payment certificates and running bills, and evaluate contractor claims with precise verification. The candidate must exhibit excellent documentation, reporting, and communication abilities to ensure transparency and compliance with contract specifications. This role does not involve team management but requires proactive site visits to verify physical progress and executed quantities, contributing to effective project cost monitoring and variation management.
Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and verify Bills of Quantities (BOQs) based on project drawings, technical specifications, and site requirements.
Perform detailed quantity take-offs for civil, structural, architectural, and finishing works to support accurate cost estimation.
Develop cost estimates, perform rate analysis, and prepare comprehensive project budgets aligned with contract conditions.
Verify contractor Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs) and running bills against actual site measurements and contract terms.
Prepare and maintain precise measurement sheets and comprehensive records of executed quantities throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor project quantities and expenditures to ensure compliance with approved BOQs and contractual agreements.
Evaluate and calculate variations, additional works, and deviations, providing cost-supported documentation for approvals.
Review contractor claims and assist in resolving quantity and payment-related disputes efficiently and professionally.
Coordinate closely with consultants, contractors, site engineers, and project management to resolve measurement and commercial matters.
Examine construction drawings and specifications meticulously to identify quantity implications and scope changes.
Maintain detailed records of BOQ quantities, executed quantities, approved variations, and payment schedules.
Assist the tendering process through rate comparisons, bid evaluations, and procurement participation as needed.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify physical progress and confirm actual quantities of work performed.
Ensure that all measurements, payments, and approvals comply fully with the contract conditions, construction drawings, and specifications.
Prepare and submit monthly progress reports, cost statements, and reconciliation documents reflecting accurate financial tracking.
Support the preparation of final accounts, completion measurements, and project close-out documentation to facilitate smooth project completion.
